Walleye    

   Walleye are abundant in Lake Erie and are caught throughout the year, but the most are caught in June and July.  They are caught both by drift fishing (casting) and by trolling. Sizes range from twelve inches or less to over thirty inches. A thirty inch fish will weigh ten pounds or more. The Ohio state record walleye was caught in Lake Erie in November 1999. The current limit is six walleye per person.
 
                                 Smallmouth Bass      
 
   Smallmouth Bass are caught along the rocky shores of the Lake Erie islands and on the shoals and submerged islands. They are active fighters and do lots of jumping when hooked. The Ohio state record came from the area of Kellys Island in 1993.
 
Perch 
 
   Perch are becoming more numerous in Lake Erie and millions are caught each year. They are often taken while fishing for walleye, but the most productive method is to anchor and fish near the bottom with minnows on spreaders. The Ohio creel limit for perch is currently thirty fish per person per day.
